FIRE PLANNING PUBLIC HEARINGS TAKING PLACE IN ANGLESEA

The Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiry will hold its first public hearings of 2015 on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 July, at the Great Ocean Road Resort, 105 Great Ocean Road, Anglesea.

The hearings will focus on the fire planning and preparation being undertaken at the Anglesea Mine in the lead up to the 2015-16 summer.

Chair of the Inquiry Bernard Teague said, “These hearings are open to the public. We encourage the community to come along to hear the evidence being presented first hand.”

People are encouraged to attend and view the public proceedings but unless they have been formally notified, they will not be able to provide evidence.

The public hearings will run from 10.00am to 4.00pm each day. Detailed hearing schedules will be posted on the Inquiry’s website at hazelwoodinquiry.archive.vic.gov.au at least three days in advance of the hearings.
