Monday 28 September sees the start of the Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiry Health Improvement Forums.
The forums are being conducted as part of the Board’s investigation into term of reference 7, which tasks the board with identifying short, medium and long term measures to improve the health of the Latrobe Valley communities.
The forums will bring together representatives from local health providers, community, experts from the health sector and business to hear their ideas about how best to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the Latrobe Valley.
Board member Professor John Catford said “The forums are an exciting opportunity to hear new and innovative solutions to improving the health of people in the Valley. We are very thankful to those people participating, they have all shown real enthusiasm, we are looking forward to hearing their ideas.”
The forums are the next step in the Board’s investigations into term of reference 7, following the sourcing of community ideas through the written submissions and community consultation phases of the Inquiry.
“This is about looking forward, we have heard the community’s ideas about how to improve people’s health, now we will hear from those working in the health sector.” added Prof. Catford.
The forums will run over five days, 28-30 September and 13 and 19 October at Century Inn, 5 Airlines Road, Traralgon. Thirteen general areas will be discussed including:
The Board will deliver its report regarding health related term of references (6 and 7) to the Governor of Victoria by 2 December 2015.
The public are encouraged to attend the forums to hear the ideas being presented.
